What Are Veneers?

Essentially, veneers are very thin shells that are made from porcelain, and are meant to cover up the front surfaces of your smile. By doing so, veneers can improve the aesthetics of your smile and cover up a wide variety of issues like chipped teeth, stained and yellowed teeth, gaps between teeth, uneven and misshapen teeth, and much more.

The Veneer Placement Process

After consultation and evaluation, it will usually take 2 appointments over a span of about 2-3 weeks to get your veneers. Here’s what to expect.

Tooth Preparation

To begin, you’ll come into 1385 Dental Studio in Aubrey. Dr. Mustafa will clean and numb your mouth, then remove a thin layer of enamel from your teeth and take impressions of your mouth to send to our dental lab.

Temporaries & Building Your Veneers

You’ll get a set of temporary veneers after your first appointment. You’ll wear these for about 2-3 weeks, during which time Dr. Mustafa will work with a dental lab to build your permanent porcelain veneers, and will have them sent to 1385 Dental Studio.

Final Veneer Placement

At your final appointment, Dr. Mustafa will remove your temporaries and clean the teeth that are getting veneers. Then, she’ll check the fit of your permanent veneers. If everything looks good, she’ll attach them permanently to your teeth with powerful dental cement.

The Benefits of Veneers

Veneers look and feel just like natural teeth, and they are also easy to clean and require minimal maintenance, making them very popular among cosmetic dentistry patients.

Not only that, but veneers are also completely stain-resistant and will never become stained or yellowed, so your smile will continue to look bright and beautiful for years to come.

Veneers are also very durable and long-lasting. It’s typical for veneers to last at least 10-15 years, and if you’re careful about how you care for your teeth and maintain good oral hygiene, they can last even longer.

And of course, the biggest benefit of veneers is that they are very versatile and can completely transform your smile, treating almost any cosmetic imperfection. After you get veneers, your smile will look amazing and you’ll feel confident and happy with your appearance once again.

Keeping Your New Smile Bright

Wondering how you’ll need to care for your veneers after your treatment is complete? Here’s what you should know:

How to Care for Veneers

To care for your veneers, simply brush twice a day and floss once per day, and see Dr. Mustafa for a consultation at 1385 Dental Studio in Aubrey every six months. You can treat your veneers just like natural teeth!

What to Avoid

It is important to avoid biting into very hard foods like ice, almonds and popcorn kernels with your veneers, and you should also never chew anything that’s not food, including objects like your fingernails, pencils, or pens. In addition, avoid using your teeth to do things like rip tape, tear open bags, or for any other such purpose. Your veneers and natural teeth should only be used to chew food to keep them strong.
